Design & Style | Inside KM20 - 2017's Fashion Store Of The Year.

Updated: Jan 16, 2018

Stepping into KM 20, #2 Stoleshnikov Lane is stepping into retail revolution. The Moscow-based retailer’s incredible new flagship store is over 2,500 square feet of progressive design, both in terms of fashion and space.

Designed by young architect Maria Kachalova, KM 20 boasts 2 high-ceilinged floors of post-Soviet chic featuring the likes of Raf Simons, Heron Preston, Off-White™ and Gosha Rubchisnkiy. Sandwiching it all is a rooftop restaurant to feed the trend-hungry masses and an underground space for events like fashion shows & exhibitions, transforming shopping into a multi-faceted experience.

The most striking aspect of the store design is its approach to upending the ‘department’ tradition. Instead of squared off sections, KM 20 went beyond the capsule and collaborated with brands’ designers & creative directors to create unique, concept-led installations.

Particular standouts are Off-White’s electric blue pantheon to its ‘TEMPORARY’ collection, Gosha Rubchisnkiy’s football-themed space using parts of a Moscow stadium and Vetements’ perspective-bending open layout.

Spaces like these serve to highlight how KM 20 are luring savvy shoppers away from desktops and onto the high street. Coolly curated merchandise set off in concept-led spaces - now that’s inspired storytelling.

No surprise then at Highsnobiety singling it out as Fashion Store Of 2017.
