The use of the ‘80s sonic cues is adroit - a giddy WHAM! hand-clap here, an ABBA piano plink there and a snaking Madonna-esque beat has been reincarnated on more than one occasion.
It’s all so familiar, so safe. And so viscerally brilliant.
Capitalizing on a love and nostalgia for ’80s pop and ’90s club culture, the stories these artists tell us are clear: Forget what comes tomorrow with the sunrise. Instead, look back. Revel in the thrill of the freshly awakened passion that came with the sunset of yesteryear.
