The new Adidas trainers are probably the most Berlin thing I’ve come across, outside Berlin. They’re as quintessentially Berlin as failing to get into Berghain or ending up with a predisposition for all-black attire.
That’s because these new kicks are made entirely of Berlin subway seats. Or, in the very least, inspired by them. The all-New Adidas EQT Support 93/Berlin is a foot-bound homage to the Berlin Verkehrsbetriebe (or BVG), the city’s beloved public transit system, featuring the iconic camouflage-style seat pattern, along with a motif of a train ticket on the tongue and Carriage Yellow rope-style laces.
And not only do they look like the subway, they can get you on it as well. Each pair of the EQT Support 93/Berlins comes with a complimentary year’s worth of travel on the BVG, starting from January 16th all the way to December 31st. Retailing at £160, not only do they represent a great value for money on getting around they city, but it’s also a clever promo for the launch date.
The Adidas EQT Support 93/Berlin drops on 16th January in two select Berlin locations - the Adidas flagship store and Overkill - in a limited 500 pair run.
So get there early. Take the BVG.
